• Carefully read our Course Web Site.
• Check the course areas in Blackboard. Please subscribe to all Forums: Course Structure, Math Related, Computer Related and Feedback.
• Read the Introduction from our textbook. Read it briefly! Don't get too caught up, after all, this is just an introduction. (Note: Look at the section Outcomes to see what you are expected to get from the reading, perhaps after some in class help.)
• Write down all questions about the above topics to bring to our (online) lecture.
• Check if you are prepared for our lecture with Blackboard Collaborate.
  • Check LiveOnline@UT, the official page for Collaborate.
  • Perform a System Check to see if things should work with your computer.
  • Check System Requirements.
  • If available, do a Test Flight, as explained in an Announcement on Blackboard..
  • Check the Resources for Participants.
• Work on problems 4 and 6 (from the Introduction). You don't need to necessarily finish, but try to work on as many as you can and the bring your questions to class.
• Optional: Post an introduction on Blackboard.

In class:

• I will answer questions about the course structure.
• I will answer questions about the Introduction.
• We will get used to Blackboard Collaborate interface and functionality.
• I will answer any other questions.
• We will talk a little about LaTeX.

After the assignment (before class) and class:

• You should understand how the course will be run.
• You should be (mostly) comfortable with Blackboard Learn (where you post feedback, answer surveys, etc.) and Collaborate (where we have our lectures and office hours).
• You should(from the reading):
  • Know hat a prime number is.
  • Remember how to factor integers. (It might be a good time to remind yourself of the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic (factorization into primes).
  • Have an idea of what a proof is like and why is its importance.
