Tenchi in Tokyo Episode Guide
After searching the web for episode guides, I found that guides are available for the first and second Tenchi series, but none for Tenchi In Tokyo. The purpose of this page is to fill that void.
Danger: Below you may/will find spoilers. If you haven't seen the series in its entirety and want to be surprised, don't read ahead, or at least read ahead with caution.

Synopsis |

Separation Anxiety |
Tenchi and Katsuhito (his grandfather) make arrangements for Tenchi to go to Tokyo so he can go to school and study under the master of a shrine in Tokyo. Ayeka and Ryoko are extremely distraught when Tenchi leaves for Tokyo, but fortunately, Washu unveils her latest invention: a dimensional tunnel that links Tenchi's house in Okayama with his new apartment in Tokyo. Meanwhile, a mysterious alien has arrived on earth. Her intentions are unknown, but she disperses several pockets of energy throughout Japan. One of these becomes a demented-looking monster that attacks Tenchi and Katsuhito. Fortunately, the girls decide to use the dimensional tunnel to visit Tenchi and are able to find him before the monster can finish off him and his grandfather. Ayeka and Ryoko are able to destroy the monster, and Tenchi seems to be alternately pleased and depressed that he will still have to be within reach of Ayeka and Ryoko at all times. |

Four's a Crowd |
Tenchi meets Sakuya Kumashiro, an attractive classmate. The two of them spend an afternoon in Tokyo, where it quickly becomes clear that Sakuya has eyes only for Tenchi. The two of them stumble upon the "Shrine of Love" and meet the "Love Goddess" who dwells within. The Love Goddess proclaims that she can make two people fall in love simply by tying a red string around each of their fingers simultaneously. While Tenchi and Sakuya are at a movie, the Goddess is able to accomplish this feat, and the three of them are whisked away to a surreal-looking realm, where the Goddess proclaims that Sakuya and Tenchi shall fall in love forever. However, the Goddess notices a strong attachment between Tenchi and the girls in Okayama, and wonders how Tenchi can harbor feelings for so many. Shortly afterwards, Ayeka and Ryoko sense something is amiss, and arrive to defeat the Goddess, whose intentions seemed to have nothing to do with a concern for Tenchi. Note: In this episode, alert viewers will notice that Sakuya and Tenchi play a Mortal Kombat-type game where the participants look just like Ayeka and Ryoko. |

Long Distance Lunacy |
Early one Sunday morning, Sakuya visits Tenchi and makes him breakfast. This infuriates Ayeka and Ryoko who are covertly using the dimensional tunnel to spy on him. Later, Tenchi tells Ayeka and Ryoko in no uncertain terms that they may not visit him in Tokyo unless he explicitly invites them. To compensate, Washu unveils her new invention: a series of cute-looking probes that will monitor Tenchi's activities and allow Ayeka and Ryoko to keep an eye on him from Okayama. Meanwhile, an anonymous young man is dumped by his girlfriend via cell phone. Angry, he smashes the phone on the ground and walks away. The smashed phone transforms into a giant purple monster who (in the name of "all things big and purple") says his task is to eliminate long-distance love from the earth. His first step is to disable Washu's network of probes, so that they send bizarre images back to Okayama. It is clear that something is amiss, so Ryoko (with the aid of Ryo-Ohki) tracks down this monster and defeats him, all the while obeying Tenchi's directive to stay away from Tokyo. |

The Eternal Pledge |
Bothered by Ryoko's incessant meddling, Tenchi blocks his end of the dimensional tunnel, rendering it nearly useless except for a tiny gap. Meanwhile, Sakuya arrives at Tenchi's apartment to give him a tour of Tokyo. Eventually the two of them stumble across a giant mansion, which seems a bit out of place in the city. When they go inside, the mansion's resident introduces himself, and tries to convince Tenchi and Sakuya to take an eternal pledge of love. He even goes so far as to manufacture a wedding ceremony for the two of them. Meanwhile, Ayeka and Ryoko are able to stuff Ryo-Ohki through the tiny gap in the dimensional tunnel and force it open. At the same time, the resident of the mansion becomes angry when Tenchi balks at pledging love for Sakuya, and he threatens to take her away forever. By this time, however, Ryo-Ohki has been able to track down Tenchi and Ayeka and Ryoko are able to blast their way into the mansion. Ryoko is able to drive off the mysterious resident of the mansion, and Tenchi is left to try to explain to Sakuya who these two girls with strange powers are supposed to be. |

Money! Money! Money! |
While Sasami is taking up the monthly expenses from the girls in Okayama, she is dismayed to learn that none of them have any money. Washu suggests that they go to Tokyo and get part-time jobs to earn some cash. All the girls find jobs, but all of them also get fired in short order. Ayeka is fired from her waitressing job for being too pushy, Ryoko is fired for being lazy, and Mihoshi manages to get both herself and Kiyone fired from their job. Eventually the girls find a job that is too good to be true: 1 million yen for completing work on a strange-looking building. The girls sign on, but upon completion of the building, it becomes a huge monster. Due to Mihoshi's fortunate poor craftsmanship, Kiyone is able to blast the monster in a weak spot and destroy it. However, the girls are still left with no jobs and no money. However, in the meantime, Sasami develops a street act in which Ryo-Ohki performs all sorts of amazing stunts and tricks. As a result, she earns plenty of money to keep the household running for another month. |

Play Date |
Sasami becomes extremely distraught when the other girls attempt to steal the money that she and Ryo-Ohki made in episode 5. She thus takes refuge with Tenchi and decides that she will spend the money before going back to Okayama. While out exploring the shops in Tokyo, Tenchi and Sasami become separated. Sasami wanders into an old antique store, where she finds all sorts of fabulous things to spend her money on. Ryo-Ohki takes a particular dislike to the store's mysterious owner, however. Meanwhile, while Tenchi is looking for Sasami he runs across Sakuya who seems anxious to talk to him. Sasami also finds a friend of her own, a young girl named Yugi who suggests that Sasami purchase an ornate antique music box. After doing so, Yugi reveals a dimensional door of sorts to Sasami and takes her through it. The two girls then find themselves in a strange realm where the store's owner attacks Sasami with a sword, saying that she will not allow Sasami and Yugi to leave. However, Ryo-Ohki transforms into a giant robot-like version of herself and fends her off, allowing Sasami and Yugi to escape. Back in the normal world, Tenchi tells Sakuya that he is not ready to have a relationship with her, which causes her to run away, crying. Tenchi then catches up to Sasami and her new friend. However, Yugi bids Sasami goodbye, saying that she never liked music boxes since "the music is nice at first, but it's very sad, because you know it the end it won't last forever". |

The Day We Met |
Tenchi is on his way home to Okayama, where the girls have planned a party in remembrance of the day when they all met. Two years ago, Ayeka, as well as Kiyone and Mihoshi, were chasing Ryoko and Washu for stealing a powerful Jurai relic. Due to Washu's modifications to Ryoko's spaceship, the ship runs out of fuel in a remote part of the galaxy (namely the terran solar system). Washu locates a powerful energy source on earth, and she and Ryoko attempt to seek it out. Before they can do so, though, Ayeka attacks them from her ship and both ships end up crashing on earth. Washu and Ryoko then try to flee from Ayeka, but Ayeka manages to track them down, but not before Ryoko is able to destroy her spaceship. When Ayeka confronts Ryoko, Ryoko uses the stolen relic to transform into a bizarre, beast-like version of herself. Meanwhile, Sasami has gone to look for her big sister and meets Tenchi, who has come to investigate a strange object that has fallen out of the sky. While Tenchi tries to escort Sasami to safety, they run across Ayeka and Ryoko, who are engaged in combat. When Ryoko tries to attack Tenchi, a necklace he is wearing turns into a powerful sword, which he uses to ward off Ryoko. However, he nearly kills her in the process. As the flashback ends, Sakuya musters up the courage to board a train to Okayama so that she may seek Tenchi out and reveal her true feelings for him. |

Tenchi Anniversary |
Tenchi arrives home, where Ryoko is reminiscing about her first encounter with Tenchi. In her battle with him, she is wounded badly, but Tenchi slowly nurses her back to health, along with all of the other girls. While the girls are having a party for 'Tenchi Anniversary', we see that each of them has a gem from Tenchi's necklace from the previous episode. These gems serve to remind them all of the bond between them. While this is happening, Sakuya arrives from Tokyo, much to the chagrin of Ayeka and Ryoko. At almost the same time, all of the gems disappear. Ryoko immediately accuses Sakuya of being the thief, but a new invention of Washu's identifies the real thief. The thief is a strange monkey-like creature created by the alien girl from the first episode. Ayeka and Ryoko are ultimately able to retrieve the gems. While all of this is happening, Sakuya notices the strong bond between Tenchi and the girls, and tries to slip out of the house quietly. However, Tenchi's grandfather suggests she at least stay until morning, as "things may look different in the morning". |

The Guardians of Old |
One day, Ayeka, Ryoko and Sasami become involved in an argument over the TV. It seems Sasami has promised to tape Mihoshi's favorite program, "Space Police Policeman", Ayeka wants to watch a soap opera, and Ryoko wants to watch, as Ayeka puts it, "a deranged Samurai show". Washu seems to have solved the problem with a new invention-a TV infused with mitochondrial DNA. The TV begins to replicate itself, but soon there are thousands of TV's present and the whole device explodes. As the dust clears, the gang sees a news report from Tokyo, and Tenchi can bee seen in the background. It seems he and his class are at a newly found archaeological site. At the site, while some of Tenchi's friends are roughhousing, he and his friends fall into a giant underground cavern. While this is going on, one of the minions of the alien addresses her, perhaps not coincidentally, as "Yugi" and notes that she is taking an interest in Tenchi's discovery. The cavern, until an earthquake three months prior, had served as Yugi puts it, "her sarcophagus". Ayeka immediately makes her way to Tokyo to see what Tenchi is up to. Upon arriving at the excavation site, she encounters Kiyone and Mihoshi, who have taken part-time jobs excavating. Just as Mihoshi states that "she may be clumsy, but never goes around falling in holes", she falls into a hole, causing herself, Kiyone, and Ayeka to fall into the underground cavern. Meanwhile, two Jurai guardians mistake Tenchi and his friends for the intended occupant of the crypt. Ayeka is initially able to fend them off, but Yugi interferes and causes the guardians to attack. Ayeka's own guardians Azaka and Kamidake sense she is in danger and are able to arrive just in time to destroy them. |

Ryoko's Big Date |
One day, Ryoko experiments with makeup, in an attempt to be more feminine. The result is a disaster, as Ryoko ends up looking more like a clown or a monster than anything else. In Tokyo, after a day at school, Tenchi arrives at his apartment to find two messages on his answering machine. One is from Ryoko in which she states that they "have a date at Station Park on Sunday. Be there or you know what'll happen". The other is from Sakuya, also requesting a date for a day in the park. On Sunday, Tenchi meets Ryoko in the park, and is surprised by her more-feminine-than-usual appearance. While Tenchi and Ryoko are out for lunch, a trip to the arcade, and some karaoke, Sakuya waits in the park for Tenchi to arrive. Later that evening, as Sakuya finally prepares to stop waiting for Tenchi, Tenchi admits openly that even though Ryoko is unpredictable, he does have some attraction to her. As Sakuya is walking home, she comes across Tenchi, who has just been bid good evening by Ryoko. She becomes extremely distraught after seeing the two of them, and tells Tenchi about how she was sure at one point that he was the right person who was waiting for her, she is no longer so sure (as it seems Tenchi already has someone "waiting for him".) As Sakuya runs away, back in Okayama Ayeka and the other girls are left to wonder why Ryoko's mood is so much better than usual this evening. Note: Alert viewers will notice a poster which certainly appears to bear a depiction of Sasami in Pretty Sammy mode while Tenchi and Ryoko wait outside the karaoke bar. |

Moon Mission |
Sasami is preparing a meal and Ryo-Ohki causes a disaster in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Ayeka and Ryoko get involved in a fight and break a statue of Katsuhito's. The two of them manage to place the blame on Ryo-Ohki, and when Sasami finds out, she becomes furious and scolds Ryo-Ohki. Later, when Ryo-Ohki does not come home for dinner, Sasami becomes worried. Meanwhile, Ryo-Ohki has discovered another of her own kind, and the two of them transform into spaceships and fly off to the moon, where there is seemingly a whole community of Ryo-Ohki's. Yugi appears again, apparently pleased that one of the members of the Masaki household has been separated from the others. However, with the aid of one of Washu's inventions, the gang is able to track Ryo-Ohki to the moon. Kiyone records the whole event, thinking that a daring rescue will earn her a promotion back to Galaxy Police headquarters. Sasami gives an impassioned "Ryo-Ohki come home" speech and is able to identify "her" Ryo-Ohki. But when this happens, all of the other Ryo-Ohki's merge into one. This other Ryo-Ohki transforms into a beast-like version of himself, but Ryo-Ohki is able to defeat him. Later, Kiyone is upset to realize that Mihoshi has used the tape of their rescue to record an episode of "Space Police Policeman", thereby thwarting Kiyone's career advancement. Note: Viewers familiar with Tenchi Universe will note that the 'other' Ryo-Ohki looks just like bounty hunter/swimsuit champ Nagi's pet Ken-Ohki in that series. |

Stupid Cupid |
While Sasami is ill, Tenchi's father Noboyuki becomes responsible for all of the usual household chores. Eventually, putting up with the girls becomes too much for him, and he goes to Tokyo to see Tenchi. When he arrives in Tokyo, Noboyuki becomes lost, but he stumbles across Sakuya, who shows him the way to Tenchi's apartment. Once there, Noboyuki notices the tension between Sakuya and Tenchi (as a result of the events in episode 10), and concludes that the reason for the tension is that the two of them are in love. He seems to be pleased ("at least she doesn't fly or shoot lightning bolts from her hands"). After his efforts to play matchmaker fail, Noboyuki steps out for a moment, during which time one of Yugi's minions makes a clone of him, instructing the clone to insure that Sakuya and Tenchi fall in love. However, the clone runs rampant, literally picking up every girl he can find, until he captures Sakuya, who has once again fled Tenchi's apartment, upset. However, Tenchi and the real Noboyuki are able to track down the clone and Sakuya. Noboyuki is able to destroy the clone with the aid of a 'demon destroyer' purchased from a local shrine. Noboyuki tells Tenchi that he should speak his heart to Sakuya, and he does, telling her that she misunderstood him earlier, and that it is all right in his eyes for Sakuya to have feelings for him, even though he cannot be sure that he reciprocates her love. |

The Eye of the Destroyer |
In a dream, Sasami's friend Yugi appears and asks Sasami to meet her the next evening so the two of them can play. Later, while Ryoko is reminiscing about her date with Tenchi, Hatsuma (the mansion occupant from episode 4) appears to Ryoko. She initially tries to fight with him, but stops when he assures her that he has not come to harm Tenchi, and that he is impressed with her radiant beauty. He then disappears, but not before warning Ryoko that she and the other girls are in danger. Noboyuki arrives home, pleased that he seems to straightened out matters between Sakuya and Tenchi. However, Ayeka and Ryoko are, of course, furious. Sasami goes to meet her friend Yugi, but back at the Masaki house things become serious, as Katsuhito senses an evil presence nearby. Very soon, Yugi attacks and is able to injure Ryoko. In Tokyo, Tenchi has a premonition that something is wrong, and all of the gems possessed by Tenchi and the girls activate. This, combined with the arrival of Hatsuma, is enough to cause Yugi to retreat. At the same time, Sasami's friend disappears. Later, one of Yugi's minions comments that she might have been more successful had she not split herself in two, confirming that the alien Yugi and Sasami's friend Yugi really are one and the same. However, Yugi comments that it was necessary, as she did not want her friend Sasami to get hurt. |

Tokyo or Bust! |
A news report tells of two twin comets passing through the solar system. Also, Ayeka develops a sudden and compelling need to see Tenchi and open her heart to him once and for all. However, the dimensional tunnel is not working, and Ryo-Ohki is not feeling well. Also, Noboyuki is nowhere to be found, so Ayeka can not borrow any money for a train ride. The only alternative is to hitchhike to Tokyo. Thus, Ayeka takes Sasami in tow and attempts to hitch a ride to Tokyo. After many unsuccessful attempts, the two of them are able to hitch a ride with Masayo, a hell-on-wheels female motorcyclist. At a restaurant, Ayeka shares her tale of love for Tenchi with Masayo, and in turn Masayo tells a love story of her own: she has eyes for a fellow named Esau (presumably another motorcyclist). However, as Ayeka reasons, Esau is so devoted to speed that he never looks behind him to see the love that follows. Masayo is touched that someone finally understands her. A group of people then report that Esau is nearby and racing again, but one of Yugi's minions appears to Masayo and reminds her that it is her obligation to get Ayeka to Tokyo (so she may see the rapidly-developing Tenchi-Sakuya romance). She reluctantly agrees, but Ayeka admits she has developed cold feet about going to Tokyo, and thus Ayeka, Sasami and Masayo go after Esau. They are able to catch up to Esau, but are unable to overtake him. Surprisingly, Esau is not a motorcylist at all, just a runner with superhuman speed. Ayeka concludes that if she and Sasami bail out, the motorcycle will become lighter, and Masayo will be able to catch Esau. The move is successful, and after meeting, it is learned that Masayo and Esau are not humans; they say that they can now return to their comet united as one. Ayeka and Sasami finally do manage to hitchhike the rest of the way to Tenchi's apartment, but by the time they arrive, they are so worn out that they immediately head for the dimensional tunnel, and back to Okayama. |

Love Match |
One evening, Tenchi telephones Washu and asks her if she will permanently dismantle the dimensional tunnel. She agrees, but the next day, Ayeka and the others become distraught when they attempt to use the tunnel and are unsuccessful. The next day, Sakuya's friends, using as a guise the upcoming school carnival, use every means they can to get Sakuya and Tenchi alone together. Tenchi volunteers to help at their crepe stand at the carnival, and he and Sakuya spend most of the day together. However, Tenchi's friend Amagasaki is constantly pestering him while he is with Sakuya, asking him if he wants to go watch the women's wrestling practice. From her fortress, Yugi looks on and is perturbed that Amagaski is meddling with 'her plans'. She thus resurrects the spirit of a legendary female wrestler, who ambushes Amagasaki every time he gets near Tenchi and Sakuya. Eventually the wrestler-spirit has a bit of an existential crisis, wondering why she continues to exist. However, Amagasaki tracks he down and challenges her to a final battle. Surprisingly, he is victorious, and the spirit vanishes. Later that evening, Tenchi thinks about a legend that he has been told. The legend says that spending the carnival with the one whom one loves will be a precursor to eternal happiness. He wonders to himself what will happen. |

Carnival |
The girls discover Noboyuki's secret cash stash and decide to use the money to make a trip to Tokyo to see Tenchi. However, Ryoko elects to stay in Okayama. When they arrive at Tenchi's apartment, they see that no one is home but discover a flyer advertising a carnival at Tenchi's school. At the carnival, Tenchi has been recruited to help out working at a crepe stand with Sakuya, whose friends playfully tease her about what a great boyfriend Tenchi seems to be. The girls arrive at the carnival, and of course disaster soon follows. Mihoshi destroys a shooting gallery with her Galaxy Police-issue blaster, and Ryo-Ohki is captured by a group of science students, who are convinced they have discovered a new species of rodent. She escapes by transforming into her giant mechanized self and leaves a trail of destruction. Meanwhile, Ayeka has destroyed the haunted house because it frightened her, and Washu has taken it upon herself to help a group of students modify a robotic mouse that they were building. She takes this "primitive piece of technology" and transforms it into a giant mechanized rat that cuts a path of destruction through the campus. At the same time, Sakuya is waiting for Tenchi, who was supposed to take her to a concert. She thinks he has stood her up until Tenchi suddenly arrives to whisk her out of the path of Washu's out-of-control giant rat. Ayeka and Kiyone are able to blast the robot, but Sakuya's crepe stand is obliterated. Tenchi is furious with Ayeka and the others, and orders them all to go back to Okayama. Later that evening, under the moon, Sakuya tells Tenchi that it's enough for her that she can see Tenchi every day, even if he doesn't reciprocate her love. Ryoko decides to check up on Tenchi after all, but upon finding him sees he and Sakuya kissing under the full moon. |

Drifting Away |
Ryoko is crushed and angry after the events of the previous episode. She wanders about Tokyo aimlessly until an unseen assailant attacks her. She eventually runs across Hatsuma, who shows her that she is being attacked by a large group of robots from the Galaxy Police. He reminds Ryoko that, even though she may have forgotten, she is still a wanted criminal. After fending off the attackers, Hatsuma tells Ryoko that he understands her and shares her desire to spread chaos throughout the universe, and that he wants to be her partner in crime. Yugi, in her fortress, appears to be pleased. She notes that one member of the Masaki family seems to be drifting away once and for all, and that Hatsuma's plan seems to be working quite well. Back in Okayama, Ayeka is also reeling from the events at the carnival, asking herself whether Tenchi still has any need for her or the other girls. Late one evening, a mysterious figure (unknown to her, one of Yugi's minions) appears to her and shows her an image of Tenchi and Sakuya together. This figure tells Ayeka that she has given her heart to Tenchi, but he simply keeps it locked away like a bird in a cage. |
18 |
Game Over |
Ryoko and Hatsuma have become partners in crime. Their first target is a super-high security bank. They are able to infiltrate the bank, and Ryoko seems to be delighted to have resumed the life of a space pirate. She is distraught, however, when she examines their plunder and finds a bag of Jurai currency (bearing the likeness of princess Ayeka). Meanwhile, while on patrol, Mihoshi and Kiyone are able to apprehend a wanted criminal (as Mihoshi puts it, "we finally caught a real bad guy!"). Kiyone is ecstatic, as she believes that this will finally earn her the promotion that she seeks. In Okayama, while Sasami is preparing dinner, she notes that she has mistakenly prepared a meal for Washu, who has barricaded herself in her lab (to do some "important research") and ordered no one to disturb her. Sasami notes that normally Ryoko would eat anything that is left over, but she has left for outer space. Mihoshi and Kiyone learn that they have indeed earned a promotion, and they are to report immediately to the Galaxy Police outpost on Pluto. Katsuhito takes note of the situation and muses that something evil may be about. |
19 |
The Lonely Princess |
While Tenchi and Sakuya discuss potential plans for their summer vacation in Tokyo, back in Okayama Ayeka is falling further into despair. She notes that Washu is locked in her lab, Kiyone and Mihoshi are gone, and even "that barbarian" Ryoko is gone as well. One evening, Ayeka has a disturbing nightmare in which Yugi appears and all of the members of the Masaki household turn into stone figures. She takes this nightmare to be a terrible omen of things to come. Ayeka thus attempts (with no success) to break into Washu's lab. Even her "Jurai annihilation beam" is unable to penetrate the door. She then, with Ryo-Ohki's help, goes into space to seek out Mihoshi and Kiyone. When she suggests that she might use her influence as a Jurai princess to get Mihoshi and Kiyone reassigned to earth, Mihoshi is ecstatic, but Kiyone immediately scoffs at the suggestion. Back on earth, as a last resort, Ayeka decides to talk to Tenchi. She implores him to return to Okayama and tells him her fear that something terrible is about to happen and also tells him how Ryoko, Mihoshi and Kiyone have gone away. Tenchi is unfazed, nothing that Kiyone has her promotion, and that Ryoko has always been unpredictable. Finally, she cannot restrain herself and blurts out her undying love for Tenchi. She implores him once again to return home so she will be able to prevent anything terrible from happening to him. Tenchi is called away for a moment by his doorbell (Sakuya delivering a midnight snack), but before he returns to the phone, Ayeka hangs up without saying another word. She vows to herself that she must do whatever it takes to reunite everyone in the extended Masaki household. |

Old Friends |
Mihoshi and Kiyone infiltrate Ryoko's secret hideout, and are none too inconspicuous about it. Surprisingly, Ryoko doesn't seem to notice. In reality, Ryoko is aware of their presence and has a bit of fun tormenting them. Eventually, Ryoko takes the two of them aside in a part of her hideout that is a duplicate of the Masaki house. She admits that she missed having the two of them around, and eventually they discuss why Ryoko left earth. Mihoshi conjectures that something must have happened between Ryoko and Tenchi, and eventually Ryoko admits that she fled earth after seeing Sakuya and Tenchi together. Kiyone is sympathetic, and agrees to not notify the Galaxy Police about Ryoko's whereabouts. However, Hatsuma foils this plan by notifying the GP himself. When they arrive, Ryoko thinks she has been betrayed, and escapes, angry at Mihoshi and Kiyone. |

Real Friends? |
In a dream, Yugi appears once again to Sasami. Meanwhile, Washu finally emerges from her lab. Ayeka chastises her, telling her of the terrible things that have been happening in her absence. However, Washu takes her aside and tells her that she's made some 'important discoveries'. Washu has learned that Yugi possesses a Jurai energy signature, and is able to trace Yugi back to the ruins that were discovered in episode 9. Ayeka's assignment is to go back to the ruins and learn what she can. Meanwhile, Ryoko has calmed down a bit, and seems to no longer be angry at Mihoshi and Kiyone (who have since received promotions), reflecting upon the good times they had together. She even expresses the desire to go back to earth, but Hatsuma convinces her not to. At the same time, Yugi comes to visit Sasami, and while the two of them are playing, she reflects on the incidents that brought her to earth. It seems that Yugi was engineered with special powers on Jurai. In turn, she created an army of monsters who almost destroyed the planet. Eventually, she was sealed away in her crypt, and exiled to space, eventually landing on earth. She tells Sasami that she once created her own friends and was punished. At the same time, Ayeka (with the help of her guardians) has tapped into a device in Yugi's crypt, and learns of the same story. She reports back to Washu, who observes that Yugi's appearance coincides with the dissolution of the extended Masaki family. Meanwhile, Yugi suggests to Sasami that the two of them go away to live together. However, Sasami dismisses the idea, pointing out that the two of them could never live on their own, as they are both just children. Yugi becomes very angry and disappears. |

Sakuya's Secret |
Sasami tells Ayeka that her friend Yugi has disappeared. When Ayeka hears the name Yugi, she immediately goes ballistic. With Washu's help, it is eventually discovered that Sasami's friend Yugi is the same as the Yugi who attacked the Masaki shrine. Ayeka thus proceeds to transform the Masaki house into a fortress, and manages to ensnare Tenchi's father Noboyuki, who has decided to come home early from work. In Tokyo, Sakuya has developed a sudden interest in photography, and she and Tenchi spend a full day taking pictures. Tenchi comments that Sakuya must have a wealthy family, as her camera is very expensive. However, she changes the subject. Later, Tenchi tells Sakuya how he really knows nothing about her background, and asks her if her family is from Tokyo. Her response is "I don't know". Meanwhile, Ryoko is busy plundering a village of its treasure. When a child from the village tries to stop her; Ryoko's first instinct is to pulverize him, but a thought of Tenchi flashes through her mind, and she tosses the child aside, unharmed. Back in Tokyo, Sakuya gives Tenchi a picture of the two of them together. But when Sakuya sees a picture of the girls from Okayama, she suddenly realizes that she can think of no one else in her life except for Tenchi. She implores Tenchi to 'keep his eyes on her alone', and runs out of his apartment crying. Later, the scene is of Sakuya's apartment, which we see is completely empty except for a telephone, her camera, and photos of Tenchi. Sakuya is terrified that she has no memories of anything or anyone prior to meeting Tenchi. She curls up on the floor and begins sobbing, calling out to Tenchi to help her. Meanwhile, Yugi declares that she is ready to emerge into the world, and throughout Tokyo, strange pillars of light begin to appear. |

Here, There, and Everywhere |
Back in Tokyo, Tenchi attempts to comfort Sakuya, who is still very depressed. Meanwhile, Ryoko and Hatsuma have moved their hideout to a frozen Hoth-like planet. Ryoko seems to be losing interest in her pirate-life, and goes outside to play. She builds a giant snowman, and wishes the other girls from Okayama were around. When she returns to the hideout, she overhears Hatsuma communicating with Yugi. He expresses a strong dislike for Ryoko, and Yugi instructs him to eliminate her. Yugi also decides to eliminate Sakuya as well. In Okayama, Washu has learned more about the power of the gems, and she decides to investigate Sakuya as well. She dispatches a probe to monitor her and collect data. Back at her hideout, Ryoko returns to her ship, but Hatsuma makes his move and blows up the ship, thinking that he has killed Ryoko in the process. However, at the last moment, Ryoko remembered that she left the photos that she and Tenchi took on their date behind, and returns for them, avoiding destruction. Finally, she puts the pieces together and realizes that Hatsuma's purpose has been to get her away from earth. Hence she attacks him, and the two of them have a bitter struggle. In Tokyo, some of Tenchi's friends are chastising him about not having a girlfriend; he thinks this odd, since it's common knowledge that he and Sakuya are an item. When he tells them about her, none of them can remember who she is. In a panic, Tenchi rushes to her apartment; unknown to him, Sakuya's name has disappeared from the phone book, and her image has disappeared from the picture that was taken of the two of them. Tenchi arrives at Sakuya's empty apartment, and we see Sakuya roaming the streets. Meanwhile, all of the gems have activated, and Mihoshi and Kiyone hurry back to earth. However, their ship is attacked by one of Yugi's minions, and the ship plunges to earth, out of control. Note: One of the many items Mihoshi keeps in her room is a Rubik's cube, which she has solved. |

Yugi's Shadow |
Washu tells Katsuhito about all she has discovered, and the two of them decide to go to Tokyo; it is time that Tenchi's mission be revealed to him. It seems that for many years, the Masaki clan have served as protectors of the earth. In Tokyo, Sakuya is still alive and well, and she and Tenchi go for a trip to the beach. She tells him that even though she has no memories, she can build memories of him. Mihoshi and Kiyone have crash-landed on earth, and they confront their attacker. Kiyone blasts away at him to no effect. Mihoshi then fires at him, and misses; however, she hit's the ship's reactor, and seemingly destroys both the ship and their attacker. In Okayama, one of Yugi's minions has arrived to collect Sasami; it seems that Yugi still does not want her harmed. However, Ayeka stands in her way. Back in Tokyo, Katsuhito and Washu reveal to Tenchi all that has been learned about Yugi. Washu has learned that Tenchi can use the gems to create an aura that will ward of evil; however, since the gems are with the girls, who have been scattered about the universe, they are of no use. Washu also reveals to Tenchi that Sakuya is not a real person at all; she is simply a projection of Yugi herself. In a panic, Tenchi hurries to her apartment, but Yugi arrives first. When Tenchi arrives, Yugi informs him that Sakuya is gone, that she has retrieved her shadow. Tenchi is crushed; he returns to his apartment, where he finds the last remnant of Sakuya: a message left by her telling him that her love for him is becoming more and more real. |

The End of Time |
Yugi's servant is able to capture Sasami, and transport her back to Yugi's realm. Once she is there, Yugi implements her plan; she is able to stop time on earth, rendering it to a strange, surreal environment. Only the gems protect Tenchi and the others. It seems Yugi's goal is to build an entire world for herself and Sasami, who is the only person who has ever regarded Yugi as a friend. Washu tells Tenchi that he must first retrieve all of the gems and then confront Yugi; however, he ignores this advice and decides to confront Yugi directly. Meanwhile, Ryoko is still locked in combat with Hatsuma. She is finally able to defeat him with an astounding display of force. Mihoshi and Kiyone's attacker was not destroyed, either. However, Kiyone is able to use an experimental antimatter weapon to destroy him. In her realm, Yugi presents Tenchi with the option of living in a reality where he and Sakuya can be together forever. He cannot resist her offer, and in this alternate world, he reveals to Sakuya at last that he is in love with her. However, Sakuya reminds him that the world they live in is only an illusion, and that he has an important mission in the 'real' world. She thanks him for the good times they have had, and then vanishes. Back in the real world, one of Yugi's servants appears and attacks Tenchi, but Ayeka and Ryoko suddenly appear and protect him. Mihoshi and Kiyone arrive and destroy the attacker. Washu arrives and informs the others that the gems have brought all of them to Tenchi. |

Yugi appeals to Sasami, telling her that she just wanted to create a world where the two of them could live together forever. However, Sasami lashes back, telling her she doesn't want to live in such a lifeless world. This causes Yugi to retreat father into her realm, and Tenchi, with the help of Ryoko and the others, (and all of the gems) goes in pursuit. Sasami implores him not to hurt her friend. Katsuhito ponders the situation. He notes that Tenchi has a tender heart that has served him well; it has enabled a space pirate, a renegade scientist and all of the others to live peacefully together. However, if Tenchi must destroy Yugi, will he be able to bring himself to do it? Tenchi finally confronts Yugi, who now looks more like a frightened child that anything else. She tells him how lonely she was being locked away, and that she is now scared. He takes her aside and tells her that she doesn't have to be alone; she can come to live with all of the other girls. With this news, the world reverts back to normal, and the scene fades back to Okayama. Tenchi decides to move back home to Okayama, and resume his old life.
